Ayurvedic tips to relieve your back pain

According to Ayurveda, back pain is caused by the aggravation of Vata dosha which causes bone and muscle weakness. It has to be corrected by following right postures of the body. Sudden movements and giving more stress and strain to the back bones lead to this imbalance.

1) The habit of keeping the body in a poor is one of the common causes for the backache. It should be corrected by following the right or natural positions of keeping the body. You should be careful not to cause stress or pull to the spinal curve.

2) All hard works that affect the spine area should be started with a warming up

to avoid sudden pressure to the spinal cord. A warm up of at least 5 minutes can prepare your spine for the hard work. Warm up can be a simple walk or some stretching exercises.

3) Posture and technique are very critical in managing physical activities. You may have to bend suddenly and lift things with a sudden force which may harm your back. You should practice right postures such as kneeling, slow bending or lifting and careful twisting of the body. They are very necessary to protect the back from injuries or inflammation which may not be visible outside.

4) Changing positions often and remembering the neutral position of the spine may help you to protect your back. Stretch your body often and give break ups to the muscles and bones so that they may not be in the same position for a long time.

5) In case you develop a pain or inflammation, use an icepack as a first aid.

6) Ayurvedic oil massages are very effective in relieving back pain.

7) There are many yoga exercises such as Locust pose or Cat pose to tone up spine and reduce back pain.
